10 Districts
Mannheim Districts
Mannheim is more than the Squares. 315,000 residents live across 17 districts of very different character. Here are the ten most important - from the famous Quadrate grid of the City Centre to the riverside village feel of Feudenheim.
City Centre / The Squares
The heart of Mannheim: the globally unique Quadrate grid from A1 to U6, the palace, the Wasserturm, the Planken shopping axis and the Paradeplatz.
Neckarstadt
Mannheim's most lively quarter north of the Neckar, with a creative scene, multicultural food, the Alter Messplatz square and a Jungbusch-style vibe in Neckarstadt-West.
Lindenhof
An upper-middle-class residential quarter south of the city centre on the Rhine, defined by the Lindenhofplatz, quiet residential streets and the Stephanienufer riverside park.
Schwetzingerstadt
Directly east of the Quadrate squares, a mix of Gruenderzeit residential streets, proximity to the Wasserturm and the lively Augustaanlage boulevard.
Oststadt
Mannheim's most prestigious residential address, with villas, grand townhouses, the Friedrichsplatz, easy access to Luisenpark and the quarter around the Wasserturm.
Kaefertal
A large district in the north-east with its own village core, the Kaefertal forest, the Vogelstang lake and a blend of residential areas and light industry.
Feudenheim
An established district on the northern bank of the Neckar, with an old village core, the Feudenheimer Au floodplain and the calmest residential feel in Mannheim.
Sandhofen
The northernmost district with a strong identity of its own: a historic village, an industrial zone, the Sandhofen forest and Mannheim's largest nature reserve.
Waldhof
A northern district between the Kaefertal forest and the harbour, with a working-class tradition, its own train station and the SV Waldhof stadium on Alsenweg.
Rheinau
The southernmost district on the Rhine, with the Rheinauhafen, a lido beach, its own village core and a mix of housing, industry and nature.
