Popakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg

A striking wave-shaped building by the harbour, home to Germany's first university for pop music and music business and a pillar of Mannheim's UNESCO City of Music status.

Founded in 2003 in the Jungbusch quarter, the Popakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg is Germany's first university for pop music and music business. The striking building on the connecting canal, with its rippling facade, is not open to the public, but it triggered the transformation of Jungbusch into Mannheim's most creative quarter. Together with the Musikpark incubator opposite, it has created a dedicated music cluster in the city.
