Mannheim Water Tower

Mannheim's defining landmark, a 60-meter water tower from 1889 set in the Friedrichsplatz with Art Nouveau fountains and rose gardens.

The Wasserturm on Friedrichsplatz has been Mannheim's undisputed icon since 1889. Built from Main sandstone and reaching 60 meters in height, the tower was conceived as a functional engineering work yet is celebrated as one of the finest Art Nouveau ensembles in Germany. Embedded in the Friedrichsplatz square with its fountains, rose beds and arcades, it forms the symbolic center of the city.
