Mannheim Palace

One of Europe's largest Baroque palaces, now home to the University of Mannheim, with a lavish palace museum, library hall and ceremonial courtyard.

Mannheim Palace (Schloss Mannheim) was built between 1720 and 1760 under the Electors Carl Philipp and Carl Theodor and counts among the largest Baroque ensembles in Europe. Its facade stretches more than 500 metres and contains over 400 rooms. Today the complex houses the University of Mannheim, the Palace Museum with its magnificently restored staterooms and the famous Bibliothekssaal (library hall). The cour d'honneur, palace gardens and palace church shape the cityscape of the inner town.
